SPOrting COurses Series 2011

SPOCO 2011 Final result

SPOCOThe Midlands SPOCO series is over for another year. Thank you ALL for taking part by pedalling and helping at events.  The final result can be viewed at http://spoco.midlanddc.org.uk/

Rob Weare, Leamington C and AC, once again walked away with the trophy with Neil Dallaway, Birmingham CC, and Tony Kiss, Stratford CC, snapping at his heels,......Tony however has won the team prize with Martin Millington and Ewan Gibb from Stratford CC.

Michelle Parsons from Team Echelon beat me, Alex Laycock, by 4 points to win the ladies cup, well deserved (my second place was more by fluke rather than speed).

We have 2 joint winners for the Junior Cup: Cameron Foster, Team Zappis and Alex Hamer, Severn Valley Velo.

Ironically the event that made me initally conjure up this Spoco series, the Speedwell BC wonderful 36 miler, had to be cancelled due to lack of entries.  In 2012 I'm having a stab at promoting it in September - my 2012 goal will be to have a record number of entries for this event.  Dont pencil it into your diaries- make the date free in INK!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE, including Steve lockwood, the Webmaster.

Alex Laycock

MIDLANDS SPOCO 2011

We now have the results loaded from 4 of the events, tables can be seen on http://spoco.midlanddc.org.uk/

Neil Dallaway, Birmingham Uni CC, has ridden all 4 events and is in the lead.  Hot on his heels is last years champion, Rob Weare, Leamington C and AC. Likewise a Birmingham Uni CC rider, Laura McCormack, is in the lead for the womens cup.  But she had better look sharp as Michelle King, the Winner of the Rudy Project series has just started to compete these events and won at the Stourbridge event last weekend, so she is neck and neck with Michelle Parsons from Team Echelon and Fenella Brown, RR&PCC all with 120 points.

3 Juniors have taken part so far, Alex Hammer from Severn Valley Velo is in the lead having ridden 2 events, if he wins one more event he will scoop a full 360 points!

I'd also like to say its GREAT to see Phil Brown from the Walsall RC in the results, 2010 racing was thwarted for him by an accident in March last year, am glad he's back!

Loads more events to be ridden and the season could unfold a quite different pattern to the tables,we shall have to wait and see!

Alex
